Shadow IT Detection Method and Device Using Unsupervised Embedding-Based Network Traffic Clustering

Unsanctioned apps and services inside an organization, known as Shadow IT, come without labels and over encrypted traffic, so supervised classifiers struggle to spot apps they have not seen. This invention embeds network traffic without supervision, clusters it, and flags clusters that do not map to any approved app as Shadow IT candidates. Joonho Seo is a co-inventor with Prof. Yoon-Ho Choi. Pusan National University's industry-academic cooperation foundation filed the Korean application (10-2025-0105146) on July 31, 2025, with 17 claims and a request for examination.
